What is IDPD?

IDPD, or International Day of Persons with Disabilities, was introduced by the United Nations to celebrate the accomplishments and achievements that persons with disabilities contribute to our community.

The purpose of IDPD is to:

  • Promote an understanding of disability issues;
  • Mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of people with disabilities; and,
  • Increase awareness of the value of integrating people with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic, and cultural life.​
